Dining at the Nappa Grille this Sunday evening was very disappointing. Upon arriving we waited 15 minutes in the lobby area, before seeing a staff member, who then asked if we were awaiting a take out order. As we arrived at approximately 8pm, we decided to order drinks and a main course, skipping the appetiser. Our cocktails arrive promptly and were very good, although we had no time to enjoy them as our main course arrived within six minutes of ordering. This to me screams mass production. Ordeing a spanish shrimp, and although it was very tastey, it was luke warm and an extremely small portion. The surf and turf, again tastey, was luke warm at best. We ordered a second round of drinks, as we had planned to be out for the evening, but felt rushed and unwelcome. Our server was openly disappointed that we did not order dessert or coffee. The server approached us several times to retrieve the payment. We were there for no more than one hour and the bill was $80. We will not return to this restaurant.
We were at the Napa Grille to celebrate a 60th birthday party. The owner accommodated our requests and the party was a smashing success. Hors d'oevres and drinks were served promptly and the private room was nicely arranged with plenty of seating as well as standing and wandering space. Thanks to the wait staff and the owner we had a really good experience!!
I had a very disappointing experience at the Napa Grille this past Tuesday. I was going to let it go unmentioned but have since re-considered. We had tried to make 630 res but were talked into moving it up to 615. I'm not sure why because when we showed up only 1 other party was seated. My wife and I both ordered the surf & turf special and we ordered a bottle of red wine. Our server spilled the wine while pouring it. On one of our dinners the steak was over cooked and tasted like liver and on the other the lobster was bad ( mushy and without flavour ). I sent the lobster back and was replaced with a tail that was practically raw and unsafe to eat. Not only that, but my original plate, with the balance of my steak and potatoes was taken and returned with no steak or potatoes. Not wanting wait yet another 10 minutes for a 3rd tail I showed our server the raw tail ( he agreed that it was under cooked ), but told him that I didn't want another one. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when the bill arrived in the full amount. I can understand that these thing happen, particularily when a restaurant is busy, but the place was empty, so we were deeply disappointed with the service and the food.
First time at Napa and it was a throughly enjoyable experience. Such a wonderful place at just a stone's throw away from home. Comperable prices and great food. Looking forward to our next trip!!
We popped by last night and the place was very busy. My wife ordered the lobster agnolotti and I had the pork tenderloin. They both were fantastic and the service was great. We'll be back. Thanks guys, Marsha and Ted
We went there at lunch on Friday and were very disappointed. The fact that there was only 4 tables in use at noon should have been a hint. Had the soup and a salad which was decent. Then had a steak sandwich which tasted like it had been burnt over smoldering cardboard. Could not get taste out of my mouth. Then they had the fire dept clear the room due to a fire. Allowed us back in to the foyer to stay warm. Didnt offer drinks, coffee anything. joked about it and handed out bills to people. I have never left a tip of $0.00 any where in 40 years. Will never go back
Recently ate this restaurant and found it to be a total disappointment. Resevation mix up, slow service, forgot an order, no condiments offered or on table, service was poor to unacceptable. Food quality varied from tasteless to good around the table. Overpriced for the quality and service. All this speaks to a restaurant that has much to learn if they wish to be in business in 6 months.
Before deciding to go into the Napa Grille we noticed a line up outside, which to me shouts great place to be. While inside of the card I called the restaraunt to ask if there was room for two, I was pleasantly told that yes please come in and a table will be ready. Not dressed for a Wine Den and my husband in a shell jacket we were seated and treated with the utmost respect and service. The ambience is great and the food is unreal! The menu has some interesting items such as lamb, quinoa and lobster. We throughly enjoyed our dinner and woukd definetly go back.
Went for the first time Feb 26th 2011 and was very pleased...food was excellent server very attentive a little green maybe but friendly and welcoming...the place was packed and our service was perfect...not over done not under done...they didn't rush us through, very relaxing enjoyable evening...always enjoyed the Blackshop when it was at this location and I'm looking forward to enjoying many more meals at the Nappa Grille...the only thing that may be improved on is their dessert menu good thing I love raspberries...
Came upon Napa Grille & Wine yesterday, was looking for the Black Shop it moved a while ago. Decided to try out Napa Gille & Wine. We were not disapointed, food was excellent, ceasor salad was amazing, atmostphere was great, service great it was 330 mind you so only 2 other table in the restaurant. Price was a surprice we had wine, salad 2 entrs coffee desert all for under $75. The only think I can give a negative to was the carpet, it needs to be shampood or replaced. We will definately return.
don't believe the negative hype! maybe just some growing pains early. fantastic service and food at a decent price. i would put it up there with the charcoal group, janet lynn's etc etc
We went out for what we were thinking would be a wonderful dinner. We were both very disappointed with our meals. Goulash Soup was bitter. Salmon was missing the reduction and the accompaning Asparagus Risotto was lacking asparagus and taste. The Pasta special that I had was very heavy and not at all what I was expecting. The loud birthday party made it hard for a couple to enjoy an evening out. The beer from the local brewery was the best part of our night. Service was nothing special. We were not offered another drink. Did not seem to be interested in our business.
Nice place but service was slow. 45 minutes to get our meal order taken. 15 minutes to get my drink after it was order. (place was not packed) Food was good, portion sizes were small as what you would expect from a fine dining establishment. Price in line with fine dining.
Great Service and food, keep up the good work. Great Fun! I wish you great success. Judith
How can you improve on perfection. Everything was excellent! Thank you Jake for the birthday dessert-it was a wonderful surprise! We will definitely return and refer others to you)
Our first time at NAPA this week for a birthday meal. It was wonderful. Great food, service and ambience. Drew and Dwayne delivered the goods. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.
One of our best meals ever!! Thanks for accomodating vegetarian meals. The lettuce wraps were better than P.F.Changs that we have in Vegas/Chicago.
Tonight I had a spicy south west soup, tender prime rib, and then creme brule for dessert. The horse radish for the prime rib was good and strong. We had some California wine, Jumping Frog, it was good, but at twice the price of Canadian wine, not sure if it was worth the price. The restaraunt has a very pleasing decor, we sat by a fire place which my wife appreciated very much !
The name of this restaurant implies a strong focus on wine and therefore we made the assumption that there may be a wine pairing menue. Instead we found the menu all over the place, schnitzel, pasta, steak. All heavy, rich and old menu choices. Again, the al fresco, fresh, culinary delights of Napa came to mind, but not to plate. I am sure this is a fine meat and potatoes place, but it doesn't have a Napa feel at all and was more fitting for brandy snifters and cigars than wine lovers with a taste for fun, fresh fair. The decor was also heavy and old...made us wonder if the owners had ever been to Napa, aside from a few wine choices it wasn't evident.
I have dined at this reataurant several times each time was better than the last and the first time was pretty good! Nice ambiance, good servers, excellent food and while some of the wine prices may leave you gasping, you could always order beer instead!
We had appetizers and sangria on the patio. Service was wonderful, food was innovative and very tasty. Will be back again and again! Thank-you for turning a hum drum day into a spectacular evening... Napa Grill & Wine Den is a keeper!
My wife and I dropped in for lunch. We tried the specials of the day and were very happy with the quality of the food and the great service. We shall return to experience more of the offerings at NAPA
I ate at napa with my wife it waz not expensive at all 3 courses of food +taxes and a glass of wine +tips waz only 110.00 i do not think that is expensive even though you are used to have a chicken saesar at Mcdonald but this is not a Mcdonald and I do not know what kind of filet mignon you had at cafe ...bar and grill in one of the near by restaurant becouse nan cooked frozen filet mignon at M&m meat cost$10.00
My friend and I recently had lunch at the Napa Grille and Wine Den hoping it would be a better experience than the one we had at 21 Hobson Street. I wasnt really impressed with the lunch as I am Celeiac I asked about there ways of cooking and the ingredients unfortunately they were not fully inderstanding the Disease and tried to say that there Fries were fried in the same oil as the fish that was dressed in Panko Crumbs CONTAMINATION of the oil straight away as Panko is still gluten......... they tried. I thought it was very overpriced for what we had too. 3 Pepsi drinks 2 steaks 1 with fries and 1 with a small salad .....total with a tip $50 not your everyday lunch........ I was at a nearby bar and grill and had Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon with the trimmings for $13.99 and it was excellent and they were completely understanding about Celiac.
Happy to see you open once more! A most enjoyable evening. the food and ambience were superb. We will return once more.
Steak was done perfectly. Vegeteables were fantastic. Potato had a bit too much pepper. the creme brulee was delicious
Fabulous service and outstanding meal. We will definitly be back again. it was my birthday and it was specially acknowledged. Thanks, Deb

Wonderful experience, delicious food and flawless service. Look forward to returning.
Food was terrible as was the service-way overpriced for what you get-Miss Hobson Street
Very good. Great patio.
Little too $$$$$ ! Food was slow, male sever didn't know any of my questions.
Food was fabulous. Everything was delicious. Server was wonderful and attentive making sure we were well taken care of. We will be back
Overall everything was very good. Its a brand new restaurant so they are working out the kinks
Unaware that the restaurant would be closing at 1100pm, a group of ladies and I showed up at 1045pm looking forward to enjoying some late night Birthday wine. The owner, manager and staff were fabulous and accomodating, keeping the patio open for us a wee bit later, serving a local assorted cheese plate and crip chardonnay. They even did that little extra and made the Birthday girl feel spoiled with dessert. A wonderful experience. Look forward to returning soon to sample the menu. Anastacia
